It is with great pride and humility that I say thank you to everyone who gave their heart, time and honesty in this election. I know we are on the right side and ultimately our side will prevail. We have raised awareness to an unprecedented level in Douglas County and even the nation.
We must never forget the effects of politics on our community. We must all continue to question if we are doing what is best for our community, country and world. We must always investigate rather than taking someone’s word. Politicians have stooped to a whole new level in an attempt to make our future about them. As caring and compassionate individuals, we cannot let this continue.
Those of us in this fight were not working so hard for ourselves and our children, but for every child and adult whose voice was not being recognized in our community. We fought for the right and privilege of public education to rise above any individual, corporate or political interests.
We have made many aware of the selfish influences that are threatening the future of what our country stands for. Never again trust that someone is doing the right thing – demand that the right thing is actually done.
I will forever remember the wonderful people I have met and the incredible support all of us felt from and for one another. That is what community is about and that is the community I choose to exist within. Thanks to each and everyone of you who has made a difference every day of your life. Stand strong and resolute! I am sure we will be working together in the future!
“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.” – Mahatma Gandi
